Hydrogen Sulfide Hydrosulfuric Acid
Difference between hydrogen sulfide and hydrosulfuric acid
Hydrogen sulfide is a gas, its color is invisible, and it has the smell of rotting eggs. Under normal temperature and pressure, it can escape in the air, is sexually active, and can respond to various things.
Hydrosulfuric acid, hydrogen sulfide dissolves in the acid solution formed by water. Its liquid is weakly acidic, and hydrogen sulfide is separated and hydrolyzed in the middle of water, generating hydrogen ions, so it shows the sign of acidity.
Looking at the relationship between the two, hydrogen sulfide is the source of hydrosulfuric acid, and hydrosulfuric acid is the state of hydrogen sulfide in water. However, the two are also different. When hydrogen sulfide is in its pure state, it exists as a molecule, has the property of reduction, and can be combined with strong oxidation agents. In case of chlorine gas, it is sulfur and hydrogen chloride.
Hydrosulfuric acid in water, because of the presence of hydrogen ions, in addition to its reducing properties, it still shows the general nature of acid. It can form salt and water with alkali, and replace it with active metals.
Furthermore, hydrogen sulfide is volatile and has limited solubility in water. If hydrosulfuric acid is left for a long time, hydrogen sulfide will escape, and the concentration of acid will gradually decrease.
It is important to note that although hydrogen sulfide and hydrosulfuric acid have their origins, their natural states and properties are different. In the study and application of chemistry, it is necessary to be clear and correct.
